Press release on the exhibition: What does the world eat?
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Eating is a theme that accompanies us all every day.
In Hergersberg-Losheim directly on the German-Belgian border in the art and culture hall ArsARDENN
a very interesting photo exhibition presented with educational material and information about the topic.
What is (s)t the world
A journey to 24 countries and the daily fight against hunger and obesity in the world
ArsARDENN supports and presents an informative and extraordinary exhibition, which was created by the project
"Hungry Planet" by photographer Peter Menzel and Faith D'Aluisio - Commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
The operators of the Ardennes Cultur Boulevard have brought this great socially critical and enlightening photo exhibition to the Eifel.
On display are 20 impressive photographs. They show the diversity of our food but at the same time its unequal distribution in the world. Each one depicts a family together with the amount of food they have available for a week - from meagre rations to lavish weekly shopping....
but being full does not automatically mean eating healthy food.
Short texts and selected statistical data inform the viewer about the nutritional situation and eating habits of the respective family and the respective country.
Values, cultures & living conditions
What does "food" have to do with global development?
A variety of teaching materials and suggestions are available, especially for teachers from primary schools and secondary level 1, to support this worth visiting project.
Of course, guided tours through the exhibitions are also offered especially for school classes with a special program.
The exhibition "Was is(s)t die Welt?" was created from the project "Hungry Planet" by Peter Menzel and Faith D'Aluisio. It is a joint production of the Alexander Koenig Zoological Research Museum Foundation - Leibniz Institute for Animal Biodiversity (ZFMK), Bonn, and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
